You must live on Just to Piss them off!

Right now you might be in a very dark place were you think there is know were to go. And, at this point of time this is just were you are.

Try, and I mean try to read this article. Its true, Its real, and it might help you find your way out of that dark place. I will try to keep it short.

My name is Llano Gorman. I had a life changing accident in 1994. I was 30. A ladder broke, I came down, and I broke my tibia, fibula, blew out my ankle and had a spiral fracture up the leg. I was put on WCB. I cashed a cheque that was given to me within a week of the accident so I could not even sue the ladder company. Now hears my story:

The first six months on WCB was great. My case manager seamed to want to help me and he seamed to be a good man. I found out that he was getting married, so.. I got him a Wedding Card, OPPS … Big mistake!! The card was intercepted from his boss. I was then transferred to the meanest most disrespectful B_ _ _ _ in this world. My case manager told me to phone her up and introduce myself to her and tell her about the special foot ware that I needed and she would handle it. “NOT”

Instead, when I phoned her she yelled at me and asked, “How the hell did I get her number?” Then she swore a bit and told be that her caseload was too high. Then after about 5 min of this, I told her about my foot ware that I needed. Guess what happened then? yep, more swearing and a promise that there was no way in hell I was going to get this foot ware! Yep, and it gets worse, but I am going to skip some of it and just state. Get a tape recorder or one of those great min cams. Put a VCR in your car and tape the WCB at Work. It’s FUN. THEY do it to you, do it back to them! I caught her on tape reading me the act! Well, I got my MLA down to the WCB office with the head of WCB.
They put all of us in the office, when I told them what she said, the case manager herself Jumped out of her chair and started swearing at me again! .. IT WAS GREAT! Then Calmly I looked at her, and her boss and produced the tape. NOT A PIN DROPED.

However, they would not fire her. I think they gave her a medal and told her to teach her methods though out the WCB. The Tape went missing. And After about a year of this, I started to get VERY depressed. I found out not only that I had to walk in pain and with a cane for the rest of my life; I had to put up with the WCB as well. They transferred me from case manager to case manager, told lies on my file, cut me off 3 or 4 times right when I was having surgery. (To be honest I lost count of the surgeries I have had.. its well over 10) They have even followed me, at over a cost of $2500.00 per PI report. Believe me, these reports are funny to read.. One PI put in, Come back in four months maybe he will not be using the cane and limping so bad. It goes on In Canada, we cannot sue them, and Alberta is the worst in all provinces here. Premier KLIEN had to put a law into the government just to help the Firefights get their benefits (this took over 15 years). Yet KLIEN will not help out any one else because the injured workers are not united! Opps I am rambling again.

This might of affected me, but because I was not thinking, I forgot about my family. My three great kids. All Very young. My wife, holding up the fort. I was in a Very Dark Place. After the second time of WCB cutting me off, I thought of a plan. A Plan to kill myself. I thought this would be a great way because my life policy would pay out and we would not loose the house. I forgot one thing. Who was going to look after my family? .. But I tried, not just once, but three times, the final time is were I took enough morphine to kill an elephant herd. Some one up there did not want me to go.

Well, after my third try I was double certified and could not get out of the hospital. I was in their for over 3 months. Well, this time I learned some things well I was in there.

1) My pain would not go away even if I would cut off my leg (Phantom Pain)
2) I had to walk with a cane, BUT it did not need to be UGLY!
3) That when people kill themselves it gets passed on to the kids.
4) That there is more to life than the WCB
5) That my family loves me, and I love them
6) That my family dos not need my money to stay alive, they need me.

No, my claim is not finished, nor do I believe it will ever be. But after I finally understood these six things I can deal with it. However, I will be that pain in the WCB assets. It helps me deal with my pain. I also now understand that I can help others. My wife and I started up a small Internet company for those who need a cane to walk with. This is the URL www.canescanada.com. I believe that when we lose something, we must fill it with something else, not booze, not drugs, but life itself. We must fight on, and not just for us. For everything around us! We are in huge debt; we are not rich in monetary gain. We ARE RICH because we have each other. And we are here to help our fellow citizens. There is another site if you are having problems with the WCB, this one is in Calgary Alberta Canada. The WCB rules are close, but not all the same.. This site has some information on it. I put it together for all of us. Go to www.calagryinjuredworkers.com Our hopes and prayers are that you realize who you are, and will get out of that dark place and do not let the WCB or anyone else have your power! Get up and do something about it, you are needed.

Wow!

My health problem are pale in comparison but the spin from WCB is the same. Have you tried going public, ie News outlets with your story?

Newspapers are not really looking for stories like this, it isn’t serious enough in their opinions to risk the wrath of WCB coming down on them. This blog is one way to let the world know what is happening.

Even if your story is not as serious, please share it here so others can benefit.

What about “Olson on your side” or W5 . If there is a wrong to Right, people should Know. Public sympathy goes a long way in political channels. This is election time. Make a point. Make it heard. There is a window.

If the news won’t touch it, lawyers will. Class action speaks volume.

Strenght in numbers!

Marc
