WCB tries to find all possible ways to avoid paying a claim. I have appealed 4 times, won 4 times and received nothing 4 times. The appeals process seems to be some kind of a joke or strategy to try to destroy a person and have them give up on appealling their case. I made the mistake of thinking I would get a fair shake without going to a lawyer and giving up 50% of any award. If I were to ever have to do this again, I would get a lawyer at the very start.
It has been 4 years for me and I have used up all my savings in the first year, my wife supports us and I also borrow money and have ruined my credit rating with all 5 of my credit cards. This is all due to WCB and their policy to “destroy the individual” so they lose the will to fight for what they rightfuly deserve.
WCB works for themselves and the employer and works against the employee who was injured doing their job.

been there also. I won, they lost, but after 5 years I still get nothing for the
employers negligence in ruining and shortening my life due to cancer, due to chemicals
and inadequate ventilation systems. It seems that if they cannot see the injury, to them it doesn’t exist. Loose a part of your finger and you have a pension…loose part of your hearing and it’s the same. Suffer hearing loss from infection caused by leukemia…the attitude is: prove that it was caused by the illness that you got from work, that you won you claim for. Insanity!
It is a sad situation that there are more people out there in the same boat. I would like to hear from all of you. Lets make this an online notice, that we can come together and make our voices heard.
yeah,,,”appeal”…notice the language?…websters …appeal…AN ACCUSATION OF A CRIME BROUGHT BY AN ACCOMPLICE…..also..a call for help, sympathy, assurance….its another psychopathic word game…wcb employee,s love to use one words against us…they get a sense of power by doing this…i WON THAT ONE!…type of power….screw that…I am through “appealing”.
Winning an appeal doesn’t mean anything, the appeals commission will go in favor of the worker but the WCB will ignore the requests made and/ or claim that “their interpretation” is different from what we understand to be. In dealing with the Appeals commission here in Alberta, I have found that certain hearing chair officers already have their minds made up before I even walked in, my last appeal the chairperson stated to me “why do you keep fighting WCB when you know your wrong and wasting time for other important matters” I was given the impression that the chair person didn’t want to be there , even the other appeals officers were giving her strange looks from the comments she made prior to the start of the meeting.
I am in appeal to WCB because they state I have no broken bones Im ok to work. however my lower back pain has not subsided at all. and I can’t even work as a security guard. my back pain is real and so are the pain killers Im on, and the pain clinic I have been referred to by my doctor. and the welfare check I am made to accept doesnt cover opiates. so Im wondering what else I can do. any ideas?
Good Luck, your in the exact same boat, as me, with the same employer, etc.. Its one hell of an unfair, dishonest ride of your life. Its unbelievable how people are treated. Its an unhealthy chronic stress having to be in this situation. Don’t let anybody take advantage of you. Don’t give up either.
Im still going through this crap and Im not anywhere close to being better i cant even walk for 25mins.
hey dont give on your claim they are doing the same to me three surgeries on my hands …hello cant use hands properly what work can you do.who is going to hire someone that can only work 11-33% of a day.my god what do we do…………..jim
I’m not giving up but it is a unhealthy chronic stress, to have to go through this.
I can’t give up, I got nobody to support me. So I have to suffer this. It sure is a unhealthy chronic stress to go through plus you have to accept the new disability you have now too.
